Do you guys mean it would only work or would work better if the tang and spine were straight.

It looks interesting, I may try it.
He uses this method for the scales at about the 13 min mark.
I have seen this in threads before.
Someone was finishing his pins with a cut off piece of a bamboo chop stick in a drill press. He had dimpled the end and treated it with CrOx. It was way too involved for me, but if you just have to have the ultimate polish and smooth finish on your pins, it should fix them up easy enough.

Looks to create some heat to accomplish. OR a way to lightly polish pins to the max.
    Non-directional. Perfect! Gonna try it!

In that example, I'd radius the points some, and reduce the taper significantly, making the tail half the width it is now, still larger than the tip, but not so dramatically so.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for one of these for some time. It’s a Jacoby & Wester(1891-1904), which later bacam Wester Bros. Unfortunately the tang stamp Is kind of light in some spots so sanding in that area was very light. The rest of the blade came out great. Getting it test fitted and pinned now and will hone it tomorrow.
