Thanked: 4826I had thought that after I had pinned a few sets of ivory scales that I would get to be less nervous, but I have not gotten less nervous as time passes.
That project turned out awesome. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanks Shaun. I made sure I felt comfortable before I proceeded on with it. If I didn't, I would have left it until I did feel comfortable. Hopefully, future ivory jobs go the same as this one.
I have a nice set of carved ivory scales that had a worn out Joseph Rodgers & Sons blade in it, so I think the ivory came from the famed Rodgers ivory room. When I find a decent blade for that one, I'm going to be extra careful with it.Last edited by engine46; 10-01-2017 at 06:56 PM.

Thanked: 2284Smoking some turkey legs for a couple hours, and cleaning out the garage at the same time. So the Mrs. can get her car in for the winter. Also means my drill press and band saw are down stairs where they belong now, in the shop.

I am also finishing up a set of liners on some ivory scales that have a crack.
I tried nail polisher remover, and starter fluid and brake clean to get the crack clean but nothing was working so I lined them anyway. They are not ideal but I think they are better than what they were. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
