What a nice bunch of blades Steve. I like the idea of the G-10 liners. They make that stuff super thin, the only wish I have is I wish they made them in an ivory colour. That stuff is really tough and has all the strength needed for a set of scales even as thin as .034".

Well Rez, you could always build the g10 liners to the scales as I did. It blends in very well.

3/4 oz. Woven fiberglass, epoxied to the scales.

I remember that project now. It came out really well. You are very innovative.

Some great razors and matched pairs there Steve. Awesome to see those double razor boxes, and seeing the red lining inside helped confirm for me a decision I made recently about a box that's being made for me. More on that later as things develop further.

I've been working on doing a bunch of easy clean ups, razors that didn't need much more than an hour or two here and there. Some needed unpinning, some didn't. It started out as just a couple and turned into a few more. Should have taken some pics but it wasn't going to be a "project"... until it was. Anyway, been setting bevels and getting edges right on them. Sorry no pics but they'll show up in SOTD sooner or later.

Great work being done and am especially glad to see finished products on Customs/Restos.
I have some nice carved bone scales from our own Rezdog I am slathering with mineral oil trying to get them uniform. Kindof wish for a vacuum chamber........NAH!
Have not decided on collars, but am fortunate to have a good selection.
Blade is a Sommer Rondinella 14, Pre-1940.



Now I have them nice and splotchy in a few areas. Guess I will work on a few easier ones while I try to get the oil in.

Do you have a seal a meal vacuum unit? Just a thought. I did quite a few of Shaun's bone in a light mineral oil in my vacuum chamber and they do look very nice/well at least in my opinion.

Anyway if you do have the vacuum thing it might work especially if you have the attachment for doing Ball Jars etc.

I have enough crap around and a vacuum pump, but time is at a premium.
It's going in, no doubt. The lighter scale was almost all white and was a bit warped as you could push on the top and the wedge end would pop up a good 3/16. lies perfectly flat now.
Gives me something to slather and look at every day!

I have a couple of boxes on the go. One of them has a paisley liner. They will both get wrapped in black leather, which is the next step.

Tom that is a nice blade to go with those scales. It's tough to find good bone. I have started getting raw unbleached, but there is colour issues at times. Nice to see them getting closer to a shave of the day.

Oh, it will get there. I soaked them in tobacco, coffee, and water for a few days before I started the mineral oil. The carving stands out better and the mineral oil will do the trick eventually.
