Thanks for the magnet idea Shaun.

This would be easier to do and I think Id need a notch to get a finger nail into to open it. I too love the smell. I was thinking of sealing it with something. But then Id loose the scent. Im just going to sand it down very fine and call it done. It don't get near the water anyway.

Very nice indeed Jerry! Love how you did that. The knot in the center is novel!

I dug thru my stuff and found magnets and steel collars. Thanks for the Idea, Shaun. Done and sanded to 400 grit.

Beautiful job on the box Jerry.
If you keep it in your closet it will do double duty as a sachet.
My wife bought pieces of cedar with hooks to hang in our closets.

Nice build on the box Jerry. Cedar is a dandy wood to work, and the fragrance, so nice...

DZEC, you don’t need fancy tools to make scales. The lions share of the shaping I do with files or a scraper depending on what I am working on. Horn I do with a scraper and bone I use files. I start with a very coarse file on bone and work my way to fine and then sand paper. You could do wood with either files or a scraper or any combo of the two.

I did save all the pieces for the closet. No reason to waist it.

When I built my first house, I could not afford gyroc, the the interior had to be done in cedar. It was crazy cheap here in those days.

I like the smell of cedar and I assume you sealed it but it made me think of sleeping in a cedar chest.

That would be a little much!
