I was actually thinking about chupacobra on one so el Diablo would make a great pair for that one. We will see. It’s almost time to go home for a while, and it will be another month before I have a chance to spend my evenings tapping away.

I just got this dandy restoration blade lot in the mail for a great price. That Black Prince at the top (well, left in this orientation) is one of the vaunted Korn Little Valley razors that you guys rave about the steel quality-I look forward to seeing what I can do with it.

And unless I'm mistaken, the two with missing tang covers (the Waldorf and the Full Double Concave) are Bokers, right? There's another skill-set I need to add, either in bone, or maybe black horn? Not sure what the original tang covers were?

And I would appreciate it if anyone knows more about the heavy/curvy 4th one from the left, a Veritable something illegible 42? Anyway, adding these to the cue.

I've got another couple in progress in the shop. It's a beautiful day here, but I guess yardwork can wait!

Beautiful, Mike! Unless I can find some Boker "Tree" scales and ivory, I may have to improvise. I think bone or black would look good.

I'm thinking it shouldn't be too hard to do: flatten and rough-shape a couple of pieces, then epoxy/clamp one side. Drill flat under a press to keep it square, then epoxy/clamp the other side, drill again. Press fit pins?, then shape and polish-sound about right? Seems to me that I'll have to find small enough drill bits and pins, though. I may ask for guidance when I get to 'em, probably this summer.

edit: What do ya know, I just found a step-by-step with pics on a Boker Waldorf covered tang rebuild Glenn posted on The Shave Den a couple of years ago-the black acrylic looks great-thanks for sharing the technique, Glenn!

Hey Shaun, you're the Henckels guy right? Got an emporer in a lot with a blade that is worn slap out but the scales are in very good shape. I thought of you when I got it. Perhaps you might be able to use them.

That's the only picture I've got right now that shows anything worth seeing.

Absolutely Paul. I have Henckels blades without scales, so Henckels scales are always appreciated. I’ll pm you with my email address and we can chat about the details on the back channel..

81 is pre 1900 isn't it? I have always been a little unclear about the logo dating. The age demarcation seems a little broad to me.

Between 1900 and 1969 I believe. I’d have to look it up to be more certain but I think that’s pretty close if not correct. They did have a little over 250 years of production but anything pre 1900 is much harder to find. I think 1900 to 1969 was their pinnacle. The 30’s through the 50’s they made a lot of razors. Clean shaven was in fashion and the safety razors did not have a dominating grip on the market place yet.
