I meant to tell you Tom. There was some kind of convention or show here last week I think. Anyway 2 days in a row I saw probably 20 Model A's driving down the main road in front of my neighborhood. Mostly if not all cars. Don't remember seeing any trucks but they were a bunch of them in a line with a few small groups spread through the traffic. I wish I could have gotten some pictures to attach but then I was driving so...there's that.

Finished up my sons Japanese style leather knife. It was more work than i expected since i don't have the right grinding tools for the job. Forged it from a old file, hardened in the forge and tempered in the toaster oven. Most of the grinding done by hand with a worn DMT. i'm talking hours of rubbing. Seemed to take a fairly decent edge. Also made a leather stropping paddle with one side using Rouge and the other CrOx. Hopefully he'll be able to keep it sharp for quite awhile with that. The little rod with the screws under the knife is a sharpening (beveling making) aid that is clamped to the blade(where i have the lines scribed) and used like you would the spine of a razor.

Aaron, the scales are a nice shape, and the Genco Steel is hard. They sure shave well though.
Tintin, that sharpening guide is a great plan. I trust it is hardened.

I feel your pain with that file steel. I have attempted (failed) a couple of razors from old files. Not easy stuff to work with. I have one almost done which I haven't given up on yet. Just needed to put it down for a while before I went down the wrong path.

It's in fair condition really although the scales need a little love. Separating on one side...

Trying to clean this up a bit. I really like the giant Twins logo on the blade.

A few brushes ready for knots. The one on the far right has "Xmas 41 D.O. Johannes" scratched on the bottom.

    Nice Henckels JP.
Joamo that’s quite the stack of old handles. It should give you quite the selection..
