Still not razzering, but did a little job on my '74 Cuda this afternoon. Interesting little job, I think.
I have an updated alternator with a heavy wire direct to the battery. Gives lots of strength to the electrical system and the whole car does not need to go through the shunt in the ammeter. Downside is the ammeter no longer works much.
A voltmeter is the way to go but this car is all stock inside with a Rally dash option.
Did not want gauge hanging off under the dash.
Wanted something which would go with everything and be a bit inconspicuous while not drilling a big hole anywhere.

Bought 2 of these digital voltmeters from China for 5 bucks/pair. Free shipee! They mount in an inch hole....
    Tested and they work good.
Took a paper towel with a squirt of brake kleener and rubbed the chinglish off and hit it on my shirt real fast.
Has some spade terminals and a plastic nut on back. Could not figure out how to mount it anywhere.
Figured something would come to me someday?......

A few months passed. Nothing yet..As sitting at my desk Friday evening swilling beer, I spied a cheap China stickum clock I had used on the dash of an old car past resting amongst the junk..
Kept good time, but the battery had long since expired. HEY!
Took it apart and did some test fitting and decided that this is it. Soldered some wires to the terminals and drilled out the vent hole in the back. A tie-wrap to prevent any pulling-out. Slapped it all together and clocked it sideways in the pod. Perfect, snug fit!

Some 3M double-sided sticky emblem tape on the flat spot and positioning it in the upper corner under the dash pad got it mounted securely. running the wires up and down to ACCY and ground got me in business pretty easily.
Nothing invasive and works a treat. Patience is key! (White dot is a reflection...)

Nice work around Tom. No razoring for me either. Too much work to do. I’ll be back at it hopefully in October.

That looks nice, Tom. Not like a china thing vlued to the dash. I think Id be happy with it too. Nice work around for mounting.

Im working on packing to take a trip to see my dad in CA. Unfotunately we need to talk about what will happen when he passes. He is 79 I think. Im not looking forward to the talk but will be very happy to see him as its been 5 years.

At 79 you should be having that talk. It is unpleasant, however if he wants any involvement in what happens right after he passes then now is the time to speak. I have had that chat with my parents. They are not quite as old, but close.

I agree. My Father in Law had that chat with my wife in his 80's then he organised and prepaid his funeral, he even had the headstone erected and engraved with everything but his date if death.

I thought it was a bit macabre actually but when he eventually went at 102 from Covid it certainly made things easier for my wife who is his executor.

Man, kind of quiet in this thread for a while. Anybody working on anything lately? I've been kind of stalled for a while. COVID and trying to catch up with jobs I'm behind on has put me off restoration for a while. I've been rummaging through the "in progress," drawer though finding some inspiration. I could use some time in the workshop.

I've been keeping an eye on the usual sources for old razors to restore, but I haven't found anything interesting at a reasonable price. So my box of 'razors to restore' is empty.

I have quite a bit in the hoarders corner. I work out of town for 21 days and then home for 21, but I’ve had a ton of side work to do. I’ll be back at it likely in October.

Wife had dropped a spoon in the old 3/4 hp disposer and cracked it in 2 sides. Been running a bucket under for months catching what oozed by the cracks and emptying, rinsing weekly..
Sucker was slinging crap around everywhere as well.

Found a 1 1/4 hp on line and finally got it in. Don't know what was a bigger bitch, the cleanup or the installation.
This baby should really chew up some spoons!
Learned a long time ago to smear a big bead of Goop around every drain connection. Keeps things from vibrating loose.

    Plumbing sucks!
