Well at least its not a skunk, like I had once.

After getting the garage searched and doing what i can i went out back and one dog was awfully smelly. Damn Skunk! And the dog took a direct spray. Then went in the garage to sleep. Dammit!
Ive been dealing with it all day. The dogs face still smells but the rest of him is better. The other dog is fine but we bathed him anyway. The patio is now under control but the garage still smells. Its better but Im hoping tomorrow i can leave the doors open all day and it should be better.
At night there is no dog food out to help keep animals and mice away. But I guess that stuff still happens. Its been a PITA kinda day. It's just Sharpening, right?

I've never had to do it but my wife grew up on a farm and she told me that if a dog gets skunked, wash it with Tomato Juice!

I'm having a range war with squirrels. Little bastards keep finding ways of getting into my attic. I hope you didn't have one get in your attic and die.

The wife had bought rubber dogtags and they are great. No more jingle jingle, but it got hit with the skunk spray and the rubber soaked it up somhow. No matter what i do including the hydrogen peroxide and bakingsoda its not getting better. I will be just buying another one.
This morning my back patio still has a little smell. But my garage is too much. Ive cleaned and washed everything i can. I will leave it open today with a fan and cross my figers it gets better. It's just Sharpening, right?

I have a range war with them too.
Us and about 2 houses either side and over the road are ground zero for squirrels. We have a lot of mature trees in our yards and those squirrels love em.
I actually don't know why it's us few houses that have them because every house along this street has mature trees too and we live on a quiet cul de sac with maybe one car an hour.
I planted a lot of Gladioli bulbs back in may, they were all dug up in about an hour. This week, Sunday, I put weed barrier down and covered it with deep mulch/cedar bark. I went to admire my work the following day and those pesky varmints had dug big holes right down to the weed barrier.
We can't hurt em round here and my wife would leave me if I did so I am thinking mothballs in the mulch might make them think twice.
I have never seen so many squirrels in such a small area, there must be 100 and they run across the road, chase each other up and down the trees. They're actually fun to watch if you don't do anything to interest them.- - Steve

A quick follow up on my squirrel war.
I'm winning
In Ontario we are restricted about what weed killer we can use so, I did some research.
A big pump sprayer bottle with a wand.
4L (1 Gallon US) White Vinegar
1 1/4 cups table salt
3 tablespoons Dawn washing up liquid to make it stick to whatever is sprayed (Dawn seems to work the best)
Shake well pump up and have at it.
It's very effective and I could see the weeds getting very sick within an hour.
The best part is it's environmentally friendly, just vinegar, salt and a bit of washing up liquid. I sprayed my new mulch and the squirrels have stopped digging.
I don't know if they hate it or they can't smell anything worth digging for now. It's completely harmless but the weeds are dying and those squirrels are losing this war, maybe they'll go dig up someone else garden instead of mine.
NB: Do Not Spray your Grass unless you want it dead! also I think it might render the soil useless too because of the salt so you might check it if you want to plant there again. I have weeds coming up through my block paving so they got a good drink today.Last edited by STF; 08-03-2022 at 05:59 PM.

Im winning on the skunk smell in the garage. I found some lumber that hadnt been treated or painted that the skunk must have sprayed. Tossed it out and the garage is much better. I will cut it up and dispose of it. With the cost of lumber now days it hurts to toss it but...
