After some bookoo amount of time sanding, patching, filling, sand some more, then dying and polishing, it lives once more.

After making a new wedge, it was pinned with N/S rod, and a set of polished SSdomes from Austin.

    That's Frankenstein......!!!!

Mike you put amazing effort and obvious skill into your scale saves. Over all it looks great.

wow I can't believe you managed to save those scales, those look like new, i thought for sure you'd need to completely discard the old scales.
P.S: OMg i didn't realize this at first, you managed to paint AROUND the little metal badge that was on the original scales...

Great job. You had to just do this for the challenge of it, as it would probably have been exponentially easier to just make new horn scales and call it a day. Well done!

Pretty much, Z. I do like trying to keep things as original as possible. There were a few moments during repair, that I almost scrapped it, and made new ones.

They were quite brittle, and difficult to work with, until all the holes were patched. But it was fun.!!

Did you ever consider a fiberglass backer just to add a little stability? And what was the dye that you used? She looks good.

You almost got it without knowing it. SHE and DYE. Womans hair dye is the trick. He has lots of it. Thats how he keeps his hair dark.

Holy ****, Mike. The new owner will be quite happy I’m sure, though now I’m a little disappointed in myself. How’s she shave?
