YOU Go MIKE! ....:roflmao......
Just got done stabilizing a bunch of Buckeye burl and Spalted Box Elder burl. The jug in the pic is all I have left (about a 1/4 cup) of a brand new 1 quart jug. Shows how much fluid these pieces soaked up. I'd say the Vac is working pretty darn good now.

Catching up here. That is how I have been making them, from tire weights I found in an old WWII ammo box my dad had. It was some of his fishing tackle & he was using old tire weights for fishin'. I still have to try some Cerrobend. I have a 2 lb. chunk of it. I needed a dipping ladle but I have one now. I can melt it in a tin can.
It's either that or go by Tom's house & borrow his Wedge-O-Matic :rofl2:
Holy crap B52, I now see a Ran-tan-Kar-us for Tom. I have had one & I got it out over the weekend & I was admiring it because the scales are perfect, so I thought. Upon looking at it at the pivot pin, the worst place to have a scale messed up, is a crack! I don't remember it being there before. I have a razor somewhere around here with that devil on it plus I just won two straights for $16.01 & one of them is a Sure Devil & looks really good, so does the other one & this one also has the devil on it but the scales are white. They look mint though. Here is my Ran-tan-Kar-us:

Here you can see the crack at the pivot.

Looks like I'll be rescuing this one now. The most critical place for scales to be cracked............at the pivot.
Finished the teak scales for the Wade & Butcher, Special.
Sanded:

Stained with vinager, water, steel wool mixture. Then two coats of teak oil, and under the heat lamp till dry (about 5 min.) A lead wedge will be in order to give it balance.
