Funny....I was thinking the same. Not hardly any shavings, paperwork, clutter, etc. Sort of spooky!

The scales are in fairly good condition. A few bug bites here and there but no biggy with that. I'm going to sand the inside completely flat and put in a lead wedge. I also need to take care of the one were the blade has been hitting, causing flaking on the inside. Should be an easy clean up.

May want to consider fixing the bug-bites now, Andrew.
Easy to do at this point and you will be glad you did!

    Hello Gentlemen!
Just dropping in quick then have familial duties.. Just got my internet back on, Oh thank goodness my own computer again!
Here is a quick shorty project after months of no SR projects at all, just a small short shorty project to get jump started!

I need to dig up my before pics of the blade. It had a half inch of the blade tip chipped off, otherwise it was never used factory reject probably because of the break..
The wood is Pyinma. I stained it black and then sanded it the rest of the way to 12k, this gave the grooves in the wood the black tint. I was going for an old look.. First time trying that, got the idea from Outback.
    Then I used Renwax.
Still need to pin it and send it to a buddy for honing.
Have a great night guys, Ill try to get back later.

Been finishing up my floor some more tonight but had to pop in to get caught up. Beast of a PUMA Tom. but going to look very nice in those aluminum skins. Didn't know the size of the Puma helped date the blade. Going to have to measure the one I just received and try to do the same. Original scales on mine are broken as well, but I have the Puma inlay to try to save and build around when I get to it.
Andrew, that's a stately big blade with a very nice finish on it now, nice work sir. And Matt, scales turned out terrific. The thin wood on the aluminum backer, very cool work and it does work esthetically for sure.
Mike T, nice to see your work again as well. Nice grain on those short skins, and appear to be nice and thin as well!
Cheers gents. Hope to be back into work worth posting on here by the weekend.
