[QUOTE=outback;1663493]Yes I did. The uprights would be your dowel rods. Wasn't sure if you were using two or four dowels.
But you could go as thin as 1/8", but 1/4" is probably better. As for the holes, it depends on how long the top is, and how big a hole you need.
Once you have that figured out, then measure and mark your holes so their evenly spaced across your piece of wood.
I've been thinking of a way to convert a magazine rack into a razor display rack myself.[QUOTE]
good, cause I was hoping to go with 1/2" for the top plate as it would show more razor. My widest razor is approx.. 1", so I was thinking 1 1/4" for the holes with a 1/2" in between. so the razor holes + space in between = 6 1/2" with a 1 1/2 left to play with for the dowels. I'm not sure how big I want the bottom plate to be yet, but 1" of the razor should stick out for grabbing as they are all approx. 6" long"Everybody owes, everybody pays. Sounds good to me.
If you want to get snazzy, check lumber ,or craft stores, for dowels that have been turned on a lathe with a fancy design already, then just stain and finish them yourself. It'll help give the stand some flare.
Lowe's or Home Depot should have them too...I think.Mike

Thanked: 4206That sketch made me think of the test tube racks we use at work outback.
Can buy them cheap actually.
Wooden Laboratory Lab Test Tube Rack Holder Support Burette Stand 6 Holes 20mm | eBay
Buy it, rip it in half lengthwise, and buy two more razors, and get a bonus tie rack out of the deal.

I have been wanting to build a razor stand here lately that would be shaped just like a wall mounted gun rack. Just like most things I want to build I can not find the time! Maybe this winter

Thanked: 4206And this is the stand I made for my first seven razors.
Was also some what inspired by the classic long gun cabinet, hence the green felt on walnut stain. Used those neodybnium magnets behind the felt to keep the razors firmly held in place despite the near vertical stance."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

The long gun idea is sweet I was thinking that since my "shave den" is actually the old tie closet in my hallway that the wall mount rack would be neat. That one there though beautiful and the magnet idea is a good idea

First and Foremost, I was an enlisted man, I worked for a Living in the Service so the 'Sir' doesn't apply in my humble opinion.
Second, I had asked for a 'Realistic Location'. I guess I should have been more specific so that the general pop here could relate to and be able to help you knowing what town, state etc you reside in. Longitude and Latitude are useless to the majority of members here.
I fully understand that if you are under the Witness Protection Program you will never reveal your location for security purposes and I respect that.
With that said, if you ARE free to reveal your location could you please update your profile again so that those at this forum who wish to help you could be able to do so.Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
