The scales are perfect as far as I can see -- straight, polished, clean -- but where am I going to find a nice Easy Aces blade? As far as I can tell, the original owner of this one thought he'd bought a chisel, so he tried to break a porcelain sink with it, and when that didn't work he put it back in the box. It doesn't look like it was ever honed. Or shaved with. It's perfectly clean, except for that last half-inch -- that part's a doozy.

Had a bit of energy left in me after my 6 day work week, so I decided to do a quicky that was in the tadoo box.

A bit over honed, but even.
Rust, tarnish, the black stain, pits, you name it.
Cut the rust with a SE blade.
And rubbed it out by hand with 3M metal restorer, AKA: blade bling.
Dug through the used scales archive and found a perfect match still pinned at the wedge. Cleaned, polished, and pinned with nickle silver rod, and SS under washers.

I was more curious in what the 3M would do to the etch being its a metal cleaner, more than a polish. It states that it will not remove metal like most polish, but only to clean and reveal the original luster and finish of the steel applied to. Well...that's what it does.!

So that took me about a whopping 2 hours to accomplish, now to relax with a movie, and a few stones.
    Mike

MGM back at it! I wonder what the results would be for deeper cleaning, if you used the razor bling with steel wool. It looks like that stuff is near magical. I am going to Canada soon and I will have to remember to look for some when I am there.

It adds that wee bit more, in the sense off the steel wool being abrasive. But doe's alright by itself on a rag.
A small dab goes a long way, just keep rubbing. [emoji6]
