I do hope that when you gracelessly turned the handle for my wok with the two toned African Blackwood that I sent is what inspired you to do this turning!

I love the look!!! :

Stained and finished the brush handles. (Used the steel wool, vinegar, water, stain ) Three coats , exterior grade , spar urethane.
Handles are maple, and have a really neat effect when turned, using this homemade stain.

Tom, this soap is probably favorite at the moment. Everything about it is fantastic, and I find myself grabbing it to use constantly..... I still do enjoy Proraso quite a bit too!

Without a doubt Roy! ( No choice, it was the only piece of blackwood I had big enough for the lid, hehehe.) Your handle was much easier to turn than this was though. Dang stuff is soooo bloody dense!!! Kinda like the man turning it too.

This is the second time I'm working on vintage (perhaps late 1700) broken fan parts made from ivory lace (those fans are quite rare themselves).

Two examples of well preserved fans made from ivory lace :





And my first work, nailed with tiny silver nails on tortoise :

What are you using to back support the ivory?

Thin layers of tortoise shell

I straightened out my scales somewhat on this CMon. Still would not close right, but unpinned the top and found the pin was bent. As putting it back together for a test-fit, I found it closed perfectly center.
Before I pin it back, the inlay was sticking up on the diamond, so I am attempting a thick CA and clamp fix for that. In fact, this sort of Celluloid is like the Goldedge razors. It rots and shrinks. You can feel every bit of the inlay as it is gradually being pushed to the surface.




Hopefully, it will hold up till I can send it to a certain someone this winter for new scales and inlay transfer......
