Great projects and work, Gents! :tu
Tom remember these scales? This is the John Coe the GF picked up at a garage sale. After alot of tinkering i finally got the blade to center and made a spacer out of Holly. Got some of your fancy washers all ready to go. Hopefully it won't take another month. Been working like crazy..

Still alive dudes. Hope all is well!
Looking good, Matt! Nice to see that old horn come alive again! :nj
Thanks bud. I think those scales worked out perfect for that blade. I'm hopin i can get it shave ready this weekend.
Lookin' good Matt. I prefer horn over the bakelite or celluloid if possible unless it is Ivory. You have that looking good, like original.
Finished cleaning up from last wonky coat that shriveled. Had to wait till it cured before sanding. Got a nice warm sunny day to do final coat. The polyurethane flows better in the warm weather plus a sun bake.

It took four days / 12 hrs. total.
Starting with 3 layers tape and 600 grt. Nani . after several hours (majority) I was nearing my final destination. Removed one layer (what was left of it) and moved to 800 grit, honing and checking frequently till the last pit/chip was all but gone.
Playing on a fine line between two other pits in the bevel, I removed the last of the chip with the 1000 Chosera and one layer of tape.
Progressed through the hones, and ran 50 laps on Latigo, then 100 on bridal .
This blade is hard I'll tell ya. After all that honing...I didn't loose much width!!
