Thanked: 4206Unscrewing the old paint siphon tube from inside the lid was a PITA!!
But happy with the first cast, so far..
Now to see if I can shape it up."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4206Voila.
Turned very easily with carbide tools, almost too easily @ 2000 rpm.
Basic shape just to get a feel for it.
My worst casting ever, being my first.
Cheers."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4206Thank you kind gents.
I love trying these new ideas, some work, some don't but it's all fun. That shokwood was part of the inspiration to this particular project for sure. Reached out to them a year or so ago to order some and at the time, not available to canada so started thinking about making my own.
Got some other ideas in store for the set up, including softening up some tusk.
Cheers all."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 2284Handle looks fantastic Mike. For the first go, I'd say it's a success. You'll have to show me that setup next time we're all there. Would love to see it in person.

Here's some more shocking news. I've finally cut the scales for the two day set of W&B wedges I've had sitting on the back burner.
Temporarily put a pin through each hole to hold them together, so to sand the edges, and keep each set identically shaped.
Might have to call me muzzle loader Mike, instead of machine gun Mike, on these two. But I got a four day weekend coming up.[emoji6]
Awesome work there B-52, you amaze me once again. The brush looks like a burl...cool[emoji106]
Get at it you mad man..!!!Mike

Thanked: 4206That zebra wood mike? Going to be a nice pair of skins when done no doubt.
And thanks for the feedback on the handle. Hard to capture in pictures, but you can see into the handle a bit in spots and see the wood running through it.
I will have a little fun with this stuff.
Wish it weren't so expensive though. Alumilite is worth it's weight in bourbon!
