Thanked: 4826Very nice work. I am feeling like I am shadowing you as I have a similar project near the bench. The silver bars separating the pieces, how are they attached? I am on the fence as to if I should try to mount them with pins soldered in from the back or if I should silver solder them to the liners. I see that you pin alignment is off slightly. I need to remind myself that Boulle's final pieces and first pieces were probably much different. Did you epoxy the MOP as well as pin it?
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 250Tom, don't forget a booster seat for the kiddies. True story---> One day I was in the barber chair getting a shave when a guy walked in with his young son. The little boy asked his dad, "What's Mike doing to that man?" His dad told him, "He's giving him a shave." When Mike was through, I got out of the chair and told the little boy, "Come here and feel my face. When Mike gives you a shave it makes you feel like a king." The little guy jumped in the booster seat, felt his face, and told Mike, "Give me a shave and a haircut." Everyone in the barbershop got a good laugh that day.

Thanked: 119in order:
1. silver separators/bars were glued with CA and seem to be held firmly by the friction with the MOP panels (2 came off due to sanding generated heat that damaged the CA and I had a hard time to put them back in) - soldering pins to their back is the best way in my opinion - sorry, I don't master silver soldering for the moment; I did try for the shields, I managed to solder one well and damaged the other
2. the pin alignment is off in some places as I have a drill press that is not very precise and I 'm still working on the method
3. i did use epoxy (allegedly supposed the best, the toughest, shock and temperature resistant) just to see the MOP panels peeling off the liner later on - I gave up using epoxy - I use a drop of CA to hold the panel in place until it gets pinned.
4. 1st piece is the one in the middle, i attach the silver dividers and the sides mOP panels after

The silver spacers can be drilled-through and pinned to the liners. Just chamfer the outside of the holes a bit and peen them in.
After peening them on with silver wire, you can sand the peens flush and polish. They will be neigh invisible!

I have been busy posting a sweet mint, unused Genco DeRoma to the Movember Auctions in the classifieds.
Took 4 trys...not so easy!
Get down there and bid!
