I don't recall ever saying not to make scales, just to go slow as I hate to see materials wasted.

But then again I smoked dope back in the day so maybe my memory is off

Please keep up posted with your progress
And thank you for the links and the scales blanks and advice. But you also have to remember that I am a teenager trapped in an oldsters body. That means the only quick thing about me any more is my brain. And you know most teenagers don't follow advice. I'm as curious as everyone else to see how it turns out.

    I used paint stir sticks.
About the right thickness and the right width.
SUPER easy to sand down to the shape you want.
You can make 2-3 scales in about 10-15 minutes....

I use paint sticks as my inside spacers often during shaping and sanding. Easy to contour and sand to the blade dimensions and easy to replace too.
At the last meet someone had some scales made from bamboo paint stir sticks procured at Home Depot that looked great. Been looking for the same ones at the store ever since.

Would you please also send me the links to the washers? I've got various sources of pins and washers, but I'm still in the market for more variety.

i was lucky to find a couple strop, hone, razor carriers, on the 'bay. They are in good condition and only need a cleaning, an oiling, and new leathers. I am fortunate!

Top one probably from the UK has a Charnley Forest on the slide that is shown upside down, and a leather on the other side
The other one French, has two leather strops, one on each side.
    Razors are from my stash.
    I love these things!!

Tearing down an old 7-day set box and converting to a box for 2 big Sheffields. Trying to find a key, off to the locksmith.

Those little keys can be a pita,I deal with them all time with the ships clocks I restore, the mechanisims are simple as they are usually only one tumbler, may have to make a key from scratch.
