I've been working on restoring a razor for a while, picking at it whenever I have time. I got the scales finished up a few days ago and now I got the blade to a point I'm happy with. I started with this..

and I knew I wanted to get it to a nice clean blade with a satin finish. To do this I first bring it to a near mirror by hand with sandpaper like this..

then I apply the satin finish spine to edge to get this..

I was able to set a good solid bevel at 1000 grit so that's always a relief. I have four old Sheffield collars that I was able to clean up as well and will try to reuse them on this project. Maybe in the next few days I'll have it together barring any unforeseen issues.

Wife: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?
Me: straightening the scales on this razor.
Wife: WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU THINK THATS OK?
    Me: beceasue they're crooked.
Wife: WHY IS THAT THING ON MY SPATULA?
Me: because I always do this with the spatula.

    Then she left the room.

I think she was upset about something.

I have this same razor. You'll love it, it's one of my favourite shavers. Excellent work making the blade like new again. Did you grind it slightly or is that from sanding?
