Couple bluing tips. For cleaning, use brake cleaner in spray can, outdoors! Use a nail polish, model enamel or lacquer to mask areas at the end of the blueing. It will come off after the waiting period with nail polish remover/acetone.

Do not use brake cleaner near scales!!!

But I prefer scotch tape. Less rubbing for me. [emoji57]

I've been blueing with the touch op pen lately and I've come to prefer it to the liquid. I recommend masking with tape to get crisp lines with less fuss. After you wipe it down with alcahol don't touch it with your hands. Don't worry if the first coat looks bad it'll even out as you go. You'll want at least 4-5 applications to get a dark even finish. LIGHTLY rub with steel wool between applications remove to film that forms. You can paint as soon as you're done blueing but be sure to clean out the stamp with a toothbrush and wateror it will continue to oxidize.

That's my preferred method as well.
But the pen is for touch-ups

Gents have been busy this weekend indeed! I've been sitting in front of the stones mostly. Trying my new Thuringian as well as some jnat mixes. A leisurely weekend.
Those red scales look sweet Garrison, and that Imps looking right again Mike! Nice work gentlemen.

And those wedges are stacking up into something gorgeous Andrew! Neat idea using the tail stock as a clamp for sure. I will be considering that in the future.

Finished off this one for my barber.
His first straight when he joined the ranks was a Beaver. His original one was tossed out accidentally years ago by his sister as he shared so when I found this online I thought it'd be perfect for him.

Got the segmented handle all turned and first coat of finish on. I'll probably post it in the brushmakers alcove, with lots of pics and even a video. For here, I'll just post this pic for a bit of a tease for now.

Really happy with how it came out. The outcome is worth the hours it took to glue it all up.

I think I'm going to watch Star wars now.

I'm glad I decided to try it cause initially I thought it would be too much work. Didn't want to spend all that time gluing and then have it bust apart or look like crap. Seems to have cured together quite strong.
