I wasn't sure how it would work out, but so far I'm real happy with how it's coming. I can only hope it looks as good as what Kyle Toth creates. I'm still trying to decide what shape I want to turn too. I think I'll keep it basic to show off the segmented sections, and not take away from that.

Cleaned up Mints blade, and re blued the tang, as it was originally. Coated in oil, it will sit to cure for tomorrow.

Checked, and his scales are still holding their shape, as well.

    And...
Got the Ivory repairs sanded smooth, and edges cleaned up, just need to clean out the pin holes, and polish up the wear washers, and I can put the Taylors, back together. But not till they've soaked up some mineral oil. [emoji6]

If the blades were in better condition, I'd probably grind out the cracks, and fill them with CA n Soda.
Thanks again for posting that, Roy.
I've fixed quite a few bones with it, now.

Got the scales made for the Hess. They're ready for a trip to the north for laser treatment.

When they return I will apply gold paint into the etch. Meanwhile I'll be cleaning up the blade. It will need some red paint in the letters and blueing on the tang. This will be my first time using blueing, I ordered one of those touch up pens, I hope that'll do. Outback, why coat the blue in oil overnight? Paint the letters first, then blue or the other way around, or does it not matter? Mint's Imp is looking good BTW.

Also, Harrywally, the brush process is really fun to watch, thanks for the pics!

Yes...coat the blued area with oil. Dab it on with a Q-Tip, or finger. "DO NOT RUB IT ON"!!
Let it sit overnight. Lightly remove oil with rag and alcohol, repeat till desired effect.
    ( typically two )

After a day in oil, on the final bluing, remove oil by blotting with paper towel, leaving a fine film, let the blade sit again, or until it looks dry. At least that's what it seems like, to me. But they should look black, done this way.

The very last, is wiping again with alcohol, paint the letters, lightly oil, once letters are dry. And pin that sucka up..!!

    " NOTE"
CLEAN BLADE WITH DENATURED ALCOHOL, BEFORE BLUING...!!!

I figured I'd better git while the gittin' good because B52 is willing to get that logo etched on there. Been sitting on this project a long time wondering how the heck I was going to get "Otto's Special Wedge No. 200" on the scales.
