9.6 is really high. It's hard to get beer much higher than that

    Default Strop Supplies

My son asked me about helping him make a cartridge belt for one of his pistols so I did a bit of research and asked him if we could make slip on cartridge holder to start with and he thought that was a great idea.

I picked up some tools and some leather and decided that if I was going to spend money on his project I'd pick up some things to make strops with.

I ordered some leather that I wanted to try and then went to a well know website that caters to wet shaving as they carried 'replacement hardware' for strops and purchased 4 swivel clips. They were $4.00 each plus shipping.

I 'was' going to make leather handles but decided to use D-rings instead. The well known website didn't carry any D-rings so I went looking.

I found a place called Strap Works in Eugene OR and found what looked like nice quality hardware so I ordered their welded 2" Heavy Duty D-rings and just for shites and giggles I ordered their 2" swivel clip.

Here's one of the clips from Strap Works and the well known website side by side. Can you tell me which one cost me $4.00 and which one cost $1.68??

Strap Works 2" clips were $1.68 and the D-rings were $0.70. The shipping was $5.80. I weighed and the contents weighed in at 9 oz. Shipping was $5.80

I found their customer service very informative and helpful. You'll find them here:

The one on the left is the less expensive one.

Thanks for the response my friend--but you are incorrect. The heavier duty one was the $1.68 one.

Here's all four of the $4.00 snaps that I got from Brand X's website and the $1.68 one on top.

There's a couple guys in Scotland that have a brew called snake venom, its 67.5% alcohol by volume.

    The worlds strongest beer.

Was it just the snaps that had the big price spread or were other things like Chicago fasteners that had a big price spread? I am venturing down all kinds of rabbit holes and likely should not look too closely at strop making.

Is there any difference in the pivot, Roy? Both look decent.

67.5% beer? Hard to call that beer. More like beer flavored wine at that point.

Wine?! At this point it's stronger than cask-strength whisky. It's stronger than your average moonshine!
