Thanked: 4826I like your clamp system Andrew. That would go well with almost any group of two contrasting woods. Standing by.

Mints, Imp scales, are as flat as I could possibly flatten them.
After many trips under the heat lamp, bending, twisting, recontorting, and cooling.
Here's what we got....
Now to see what they do overnight..[emoji6]Mike

Started thinking about making the scales for the Hess. I only have the blade, needs a good cleaning up and somebody rounded the toe a little more than necessary but it's solid with minimal hone wear. I found this blade almost 3 years ago at a "barn sale". The old guy running the place calls it a barn sale but it's more like his antique and junk store because it's open more than closed. It was 100 degrees in there and what you might have called the scales were a sticky glob of broken plastic. I don't know if they were melty from the heat or just breaking down or both but there was no saving them for anything.
To get the right shape and size for the new scales I saved the picture of one of these razors from the SRP library and brought it up on my screen. I laid my screen flat and resized the photo until my blade matched the one in the picture which gave me the correct size for the scales. Then I simply turned up the brightness, laid a paper over the picture and traced it.
Looks like it will work well and a good fit
Then I cut some acrylic that I have been saving for this blade, glued and clamped. I used super glue for this because it's quick and doesn't bleed through the "wax" paper on the outside of the acrylic. Later you can still get them apart no problem. This acrylic is pretty thick so I will spend some time shaping it down.
The Hess "Otto's Special Wedge No. 200" sure does look a lot like a Red Imp. It's got me wondering and trying to remember if I read somewhere about a connection?"Go easy"

Hey that brush is going to be really interesting, Harrywally! I can't help but think of Trivial Pursuit game pieces looking at that picture of all the wedges in the clamps. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
