Yeah. But if there is something ivory looking in there, they get someone who does know the difference. And if it is illegal to ship it, it could very well cause problems much worse than simply having it confiscated. Fines and such. Ivory is getting to be a big nono these days. I know antique ivory is not a problem as such, but it is hard to distinguish between antique and non antique. And since more elephants die each day than are born, people are taking drastic measures to try and bring poaching to a halt.

Yes, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was trying to encourage anything illegal, but seems crazy to not be able to purchase a razor with ivory scales that are obviously original, or for that matter, a brush or something that is certified pre-ban ivory.

Don't quote me ,but Bill has posted before right after the first of 2015 you won't be able to ship it anymore. Sales are prohibited , not illegal to own ,just as a business you won't be able to operate under the new laws, please Bill correct me if I,m wrong ,, Also. HMW. Is it softer than what I've been getting? Guess if it is might have to set low so has some backbone? I'll be looking for the finished product

Not working on but finished honing 2 mint tamahagane Iwasakis. One western, one traditional.
Western tested at HV 830. Both honed easily & relatively quickly using 2 Asagi stones. A Yaginoshima & a Nakayama.
