Perhaps India or a country such as that may still have the skills and the sweat shop practices to so..
The French blade you suggest on the page would be a winner!!
I do not know of any MOP that is available even special order from Asia that will yield scales of that length. Been a long time since any were on the open market. The large est Nacre producing shells have been harvested, except by chance, long ago. I tried to get large MOP from Asia by special order and the businesses did not have any.

Richard, I found some MOP not long ago on eBay. If I can find it again or if some is still available, I'll let you know.I'll do some searching.

An Oxford warranted from Germany, and a Blue Steel from Eden and Co, also from Germany.
    I reblued the blue steel,

and realize the heel needs some adjusting but wanted to see how these cleaned up without removing them from their scales. Both seem to be bone, or natural material and I didn't want to damage them in the re and re.
The Oxford has a very noticeable knife like bevel to it, that I presume to be original and my new bevel, made with one layer of tape, is quite sharp. Never seen a double bevel Like that on any of my other old blades.

Look forward to trying them out before I revisit the polishing wheels.

Substance ( below) has the right of it but..there are now a few others stores of similar enough name to confuse a search engine if you do a search.
Engine46 came through with this link for similar materials:

On my Jonathan Crooks FBU blade! The first two are before & the other two are now while I'm sanding on it. It's gonna take some time to make it purdy!

    Lovely!!
You are fortunate!! That set of scales cannot be duplicated anymore. I have contacted many suppliers around the world and they cannot get shells large enough to make them.

I'll try to take closer pictures, but I think on this one (unlike the Rodger), several thin pieces of MOP have been boiled and glued (what kind of glue ?) till it makes a large and thick piece of shell, then worked and polished.

I don't know how they did it, however it could be a clue in order to make some new.
