I've been up and down this thing around 20 times with a 100X microscope. Sorry about the picture -- my camera is just a cell phone but I think you can see a little better here. Yes, there's a pit above that spot, but the bevel and the edge are okay.

I'm telling you, one of these days I'm going to get a good shave out of this thing. Either that, or another long, boring story to tell my kids while they roll their eyes. It's going to be one of those two for sure.

@RezDog no, the wedge isn't glued. I rushed it and it isn't perfect, so I'm gonna fix it when I get a moment. The wedge and the scales aren't perfectly aligned, but they are tight. It happened when I was doing the final shaping and I didn't notice the wedge "got away". So I was thinking one way to fix the imperfection would be to mix some ebony dust and CA and just fill the gaps, or do it the right way and sand the high spots away (which is what I'll try first).

Another set of scales happening here. Lingnum wood with tru-oil. Got many more coats to go but there are coming along fine.

Gorgeous scales, gasman. I did a double and triple take when I saw them, I love 'em! I think I see some nice chatoyance in there, bet it's even more in person.

Indeed I still see that pit, make it shave prove us wrong, but eventually that pit will creep up on you hopefully you can get passed it without uncovering many more.
