Beautiful job Jerry.
I hope you find the blade to be totally worthy of being mounted in those great looking scales.

It does look like they are under glass. Thanks. As far as who cut out the truck pic. ME and my pocket knife! OK, Maybe not. @oldblades get that honor. They were a gift. He did it for me when I bought some old blades from him. Thru them in the box as a bonus. Very nice of him!
As soon as I finish getting this CB radio fixed and off my bench I'll get started on the honing of this one and hope to shave with it tonight. Crossing my fingers that this is a good honing day for me as its hit and miss with my honing skills so far. Something else I have to work on.
Much better pics this time. Plus its pinned.
Guess I need to build me one of those light boxes for pics soon. Something else I'll have to research to find out how to make.
Thanks for the props gentlemen.Last edited by Gasman; 04-28-2017 at 08:48 PM.

Thanked: 2284Sectioned 2 of the smaller burls I found last week. Looks very promising, although there also seems to be some worm damage at the tops of the outer layer. It's not too deep and I'm hoping I can turn past most of it. Cut a 3" square blank for a 12" Pepper mill, a 2" x 12", and some smaller blanks as well. Should be some excellent caps as well.
Some very nice coloring, and excellent burl figuring. Some grey/blues, reds, peach, and also some amazing spalting patterns.

Looking good gasman! I'm sure you'll get her honed up nice. Just remember that setting that bevel is everything! When you THINK it's set, keep on going. When you KNOW it's set, give it 30 or 40 more light X strokes and move to the next stone. It's all downhill after that.
