+1 for a jig or template of sorts and the dremel or hand tools
The checkering file won't allow for the tappered lines from pivot to wedge to match the scale shape
    Good luck looks like joy
hope to see it work out

It was just a thought that came to mind. A scribing tool with a steady hand like Geezer was showing is the other option that came to mind.

The cheap needle file "riffler files" are a good bet for that. Usually under $10 with free shipping

    Hi Folks,
Since I went partially blind around the central focus one eye, detailed shop work has been difficult. But...my musculature in that eye has somewhat compensated for the problem. I can now work close again! No pity, I am very fortunate and give thanks for the reprieve!
So...on to today's rescale in aluminum:

I did show the inside of the scales here a while back; the work had been done a while before the problem. I posted to get my butt into gear but it has taken time.:

For those of you thinking of polished aluminum scales; they are easy to get shiny but beastly long effort to get a true polish on them. They remember every unkindness to a surprising depth from what you think is the surface. A good simple shine with lapping paper seems to be the best for the older fancy engraved scales. Then paper with a bit of MAAS rubbed well into it does the final polish without hurting the engraving.
    Have fun all!

I clicked on the link above & I remember that. I looked & I had replied just after you said what they were made of, I asked what were they made of & I just felt like an idiot but then I looked at the date & that was the very same day I was in the accident on my Harley. I had made that comment before the accident but I was already having a bad day because I had gotten a letter in the mail from the treasury saying they were going to garnish my disability check every month until a defaulted school loan was paid off. I remember that day clearly. Now I don't feel so bad. Not to change the subject but I've had issues ever since I went down that day. I just got in from a doctor's appt because he's going to be gone all next week & I was out of pain meds. Had to refill it & the DEA have now made Norco & any hydrocodone prescriptions a schedule two narcotic so you can't get your pharmacy to fax a refill request anymore for those like they used to. I got the results back from a ct scan I had last week & it seems I have some more herniated discs in my back & one in my neck. I never had any issues with my neck. My back has been killing' me ever since it happened. I sure hope I have a good outcome from all this.
Aside from that the straight razor is gorgeous. Very nice job, well done by a professional!
    Respectfully,
    Steve

Now you know why I give thanks for the reprieve from a simple effect of growing older that leaves me with full peripheral vision and driving ability.! Good luck to you! The lower back always influences the neck and skull.

Set a bevel on my first razor. goods news is its even, bad news is its a bit wide, back to the grinder, and maybe 2 layers of tape to hone. I was expecting this, as the O1 i used was 3/16" and the razor is just under 13/16".
