Cerro is interesting stuff,some of the old Palmera razors had a raised Medallion with the logo.
I made an epoxy mold and cast some for some rescaled blades I got a few yrs back.

I was thinking of using it to cast logos and other stuff for inlays. I was also thinking that it could actually be used to fill an inlay since it doesn't get all that hot to scorch the wood. The only thing I would be worried about is if it would pop out with the flex of the scales without it being adhered in place and also the fact that it hardens pretty quick so would have to be worked fast which isn't really a good thing when it comes to razors. Something else for me to experiment with.

If you were to undercut around the bottom of the depression in the horn scales making the out side smaller than the inside it would not pop out. I have a couple of older Sheffield's that have a very soft pewter crushed into holes like that for decoration. Overfill the depression by at least 20% and trim it off later.

Good idea. Didn't think of that. Reminds me of how inlays are done on rifles.

The box has been restored with the 213 wax from the french national library (usually used for XVIIIth books).

Today I attached the handles to a kitchen knife for a colleague (no pics because it is clamped in the vise).
I ground 3 post-HT razor to the point where they pass the thumb nail test. Thhose are now ready to finish grinding.

I was going to sell this razor when I was done in order to fund another one but the more work I put into it the less likely that's going to happen. Blade is a 7/8 or bigger WnB that I got awhile back. Stole it for the low price of $40. Old scales were toast. The scales are bocote and the wedge is wenge.

I've been having some fun working on a personal project - a custom travel set in tortoise (set, razors and soap box) - that was laying on my desk for quite a time.

Got a vintage ivory paper-cut, adapted it. It will make a perfect travel strop.









I also started to work the wood (peuplar).

Cleaning up a Rodgers and sons. Thinking of using the dark horn shown in this shot. But also considering some deer antler, or a piece of really beautiful cherry hardwood I have lying about.
Doing some image searches for Rodgers blades as this is my first. Just looking for ideas.

I think black horn would fit it well Wouldn't go for the deer.
