Offers open for some laser inlay action of course Tom.
I've been busy in the shop on another little project involving that ancient bog oak these last couple days
    Not razor related though.

A lot harder to do than they look, but it's coming along..
That dust really gets into your skin, eh Mike. Almost like lamp black.
Noticed the other day, after sanding.
That when I got in the shower, the water going down the drain was gray, like washing out an ashtray. [emoji38]

I do like how it sands, so soft and smooth to the touch, yet rough as hell looking.

I made some scales out of some acrylic pen blank material. I've been working on sorting out some flea market razors I accumulated over the summer. This razor is one of them, International Cutlery Co. "Silver Steel". It's in line for a honing now.

I've been looking at some of those, the store down the street has all kinds of them. Most seem too small, but would most likely work for 5/8ths. or less razors. May have to do some blade tracings, and take them with me for a fitting.

Pretty simple tools needed for making scales. Having a scroll saw/ band saw, makes things a lot easier, but can be done with a coping saw, just the same.
A belt sander speeds things up for thinning and shaping, but I prefer to do it by hand. I feel it gives them a more, personal touch, and a sense of accomplishment.

Well I guess I have the tools needed. And I think I'd got he hand sanding route as well. The personal touch is a thing that means a lot to me, I used to frame homes for families. Most frame houses, but to me it was more than that.

Ya, most pen blanks are 5 inches and that's a bit too small. If you search around google you can find some that are 6 inches but there are far fewer of those. For this I used 1" x 6" Good Grain Acrylic Pen Blanks from WoodPenPro.

I was originally going to use this material to make a replacement set for that Adoration razor but you helped me out by sending an original set for that project. Thanks again outback!
