Sorry to hear about the water, Mike! I know too well about the shop-vac thing.
Good to get it out ASAP.
A dehumidifier is sweet after. I borrowed a few after the last flood.
Saved a lot of damage by drying things out fast.

Thanked: 2284The industrial dehumidifiers can draw a ton of moisture out of the air. We are constantly renting them for when people's basents flood at work. They're true money savers.

Here is one link. Geezer did a post some time ago using a translucent plastic tote for photography. I can't find that one but the idea should be easy to figure out
I believe he used this style of a tote with bright reading lights on three sides and a hole in the lid for the camera. It may have even had a green paper background. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Cleaning up some salvaged strop hardware. I noticed the anchor on the clip, looks like the Wester Bros. anchor. Can't remember the strop it came off of, something tattered like it was used as a dog toy. I'll reuse the hardware to make a short travel strop. I have a little horsehide and linen left and it will be perfect for that. I think I'm going to try to keep the total length, with hardware clip extended and everything, to 18 inches.

In black horn, triple stack washers.
Warped blade with pitting but being a full hollow I didn't want to take away all the pitting.
Still need to work the stabilizer and the heal of the blade a bit then get it on the hones.
Nothing fancy but I dug up the scales for free and just needed to put them on something. Also dug up a wedge and shaped it for these scales. Had to do some fancy pinning but it now closes without hitting the sides.
Oops, Half hollow!
I'm finding making scales and wedges is really simple. Not nearly as tough as it was on my first set. These were already cut to shape with a little more swoop then I needed but it turned out ok.Last edited by Gasman; 07-18-2017 at 05:06 AM.

Sucks on the basement flood Mike I have been there. Andrew sweet burl! Gonna be a nice brush.
Mike beautiful save brother.
Finally got some razor work going again.
For this W&B Special not long ago, guy new to honing sent it shave ready. Sadly it wasn't. Reset bevel and finished now to shave with it and then a quick clean up. I know that's a bit backward but wanted to make sure things were gonna be right. There was lots of micro chipping didn't want any surprises. Should clean up easy peasy and add some paint to the scales, BAM another special for my collection. Got 5 others touched up too! Later fellas.Nothing is fool proof, to a sufficiently talented fool...
