Thanked: 11That's a gorgeous looking razor! I'm the opposite, I like 4/8 and 5/8 best. I find them way more maneuverable especially around the lips. My Swedish Bergs, heljestrand, and Törnblom are all 4/8 and they shave amazingly well. Not that I hate 6/8+ razors, they just don't do too much for me, they are beautiful though!

Can't agree more engine, I have a 4/8 and really enjoy getting it out every once in awhile. Little race razor.

I will get this little guy honed up and try him out. It's my first Wosty, after all!
I'm not sure why I don't like narrower razors as much. I don't have any really giant blades -- I top out at around 15/16 -- and I tend to reach for the 6/8 razors more often than the 7/8 although I like both. I have a 5/8 W&B Bow razor that should be a dream to shave with -- nice and clean and takes a sharp edge -- but I don't usually seem to get an enjoyable shave from it.
I do have a real affection for my old 5/8 Lafayette though.

Jerry I dig the strop socks. My wife made me a few but I need some more. Now I think she's bored of it and pretty much went on strike as far as sewing strop socks. Looks like I'm about to do what you did, haul out the machine and figure it out.

It was pretty easy. Just do some measuring, put a seem around a retangle of fabric. Fold in have and sew two sides together about have way down. Sew two spots at the top so the hook can come thru. Turn rights8de out and its dont. My first one took an hour or so but after i had the measurments and knew what i was doing it went a lot faster. Making square was the hardest part but i found that using the pattern in the material seemed to work.
Good luck.
My wife told me i should make a few hundred and sell them to the fine folks here on SRP. Dont know if it would be worth the effort. Or if there would be a call for them when others sell them too. I think. It's just Sharpening, right?

Jmabuse I usually go for my 5/8 wade and butcher's more than anything just a great edge and I have plenty. I use my big blades when I need something to spice things up a bit.

I did not think twice about the sewing thing. I just simply ordered a pile from Razorfeld.
It's what he does!
I do seem to be his best customer, however. Lots of guys have made them or had someone else do it. One thing is certain, they are nice to protect your strops and look cool to boot!

I've made quite a few for Sharptonn on a trade basis of some of his expertise with razors against my sewing skills. Tried to sell them on a cash basis with no takers at all. Materials plus labor at a decent level becomes a can't eaily sell situation. If you want to basically give them away at a low price you will be inundated with requests and end up runnung a one-man sweat shop with no shop steward to complain to other than looking in the mirror.
