Nice vac pot, and mystery hunk to slowly peel away Andrew! Look forward to seeing the results..and the fireplace looks fantastic..
Should bring your rig next month. We can get more done with two pots to pull in..
And Mike, nice Freddie tune up!
I had a flash storm and resulting basement flood to deal with tonight..
Sump couldn't keep up, you know the rest.

Quick work on that Freddie Mike. I hope you get past the water in the basement other Mike. I am intrigued with your burl Andrew and I am anticipating the showing of it after a little grinding and then perhaps what it grows up to be will be super cool.

My first razor restoration projects are coming along. Here are some progress pics of the finished razors and the scales they will soon be fitted into. Wedge, mock-up, peening and final sanding / polishing the wedge and honing are all that remain. Can't wait to shave with these!

Mike, that sucks brother. I know the rain is suppose to keep coming around here. Hope all stays dry there.

jsetlz, your restores are looking very good! Black horn???

Couldn't wait, so this morning at 6am I threw my block on the sander. The black dye has made the wood go a gold tone, but I can see that it has slightly highlighted the burl grain. These guys who stabilize and dye blanks to vibrant colors must use a ton of dye. I put in about 4 table spoons into 2 cups of resin. Figured that would be plenty. Nonetheless, it looks much different than a regular box elder burl blank, so I'm happy with the outcome.

Just watched this guy. I might try some of these techniques on future blanks.

    Nice result,
To tell us your opinion on the machining, I find it harder to work with stabilized wood due to the increased hardness.

It's fun reading this thread, so many different projects going. Mike you saved that Frederick Reynolds life - it was like an abused dog that found a good home, happy and healthy again. I like the look of the burl Andrew, neat experiment there. You guys with these pressure pots, like a really cool science class here. Mike sorry about the water coming in, I hope your cool tools, machines, lasers, and other pieces of apparatus etc. etc. are ok. Jsietz - nice work buddy, those are looking like they will be in service soon enough, a whole new level of satisfying shave comes from one you've restored yourself. Great work all around guys

    +1 to that, Tuzi.
No better satisfaction, than one you breathed life back into.
