On the bench today is a fun piece! What will end up as a big 8/8 Spanish Point. Has not been scaled yet, nor met the hone.
Sizing is getting all dialed in, with a spine width of roughly, 0.2665" and a blade width of 1.080" - However, that blade width will reduce a touch once honed out to 1.0", giving me a final bevel around 15 degrees. (If I had known that geometry was going to rule my life so much, I think I would have put waaaaaaayyy more into it in high school....)
Anywhoo, here are a couple pics thus far. Once she is all scaled up and honed, I'll drop a couple update pics to this thread and show you how this piece finishes and cleans up!
(Oh, and on the more technical side - Steel is 1095, forged. Heat treated and tempered to between 62 and 63 HRC. Once the scales are on, I'll be able to give overall weight. Grind is a 1/2 hollow, so she'll be a little weighty.)

Thanked: 2284Last night I was able to go at a half ball of Lignum Vitae on the lathe getting it prep'd for a project. Forgot how damn hard this wood is. went back to the grinder 4 times just to get it to where it is now.
Also been working on an outdoor fire place on the back patio. Coming along well. Today I started cutting some of the Armour stone copings, and got some of the inside pieces fitted until a huge rain storm came. Hopefully tomorrow I can start getting some of the stone stuck on.

Thanks Mike.
SOS, I was in a little mishap. Now I am looking for a truck to buy. Harley totaled so I'll finish my older one. I don't race green lights but people driving cages do.
