Thanked: 4206Beauty Job Tom! Blued up very nicely chief.
And phrank, is all that staining above the scale line when closed? Could be chemical reaction to whatever splashed on it, or water damage maybe?
I'd keep going with some supported 800 personally..Going to be Purdy.."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Methinks that is from those exotic wooden scales.
AFAIK, no one made wooden scales back then. They could not seal them like you can today?
Couldya make old Phranky some scales, Mike?
I would owe you!Last edited by sharptonn; 04-08-2017 at 03:51 AM.

Thanks Tom.... :-)
The scales on this razor are fine...actually quite unique.
Sanding away...there are no washer's on the one set of pins at the pivot....one piece scales, beautiful work, looks like wood to me but could be horn....scales are very well made, solid as a rock.
Sanding away....crappy pics, tang stamp hasn't survived the years that well, no sanding there, just cleaning that area up.
Here's a pic of another Palmera from the interwebs...pretty sure this was the etch that is/was on mine, and the scrunge looks the same too....

Looks like the cell was bad and got the blades. At LEAST Juan was sharp enough to toss them!
I like those scales too, Andrew. Is the pivot tight?

Pivot is perfect, extremely well made scales, no wedge or spacer, blades closes center and everything is nice and tight...don't want to take to much more metal off, so I may move to 2000 grit, then 3000 grit to try and get some polish to it, then hit the stones, figure I can start with too little and always do more later if I want to. Big blade, 24mm, and quite heavy....

Stay with it, Andrew. You NEED another Palmera!
I reckon the wood is stable.
Wonder what is under there??
