Thanked: 59Antoni Tadross came to me with a slight frown. I promised him I could fix that and he couldn't believe it until he saw his warm bath of Koma magic powder. Didn't take very many laps to make a new friend and a smile.

So tonight I got together my Cattaraugus. These scales are meant for another but couldn't resist. Bone scales and brass everything else.
Not perfect on these just like my horn but I'm learning. Used a spacer not a wedge. Scales are a bit off that's my fault. But all in all I like the look and will improve from here. Blade closes centered and tomorrow off to the stones!Nothing is fool proof, to a sufficiently talented fool...

Thanked: 4827I really like bone as a scale material too Ejmolitor. I think your project came out well. As long as the blade centres then they are functional. Sometimes with a spacer they get loose in the flat open position, which irritates me for stropping. If you find they work for you that is all that matters.
I got a little ham fisted taking the scale odd the block. I made another one and in time I will reuse the broken one. I glued it back together and it looks right. I would never trust it without a liner, so I will work on that later. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I need to go a bit thinner next time. The Cattaraugus had factory copper spacers in the pivot and I had to use those to get things to work properly. It actually opens/closes in an arc but last little bit centers up. I think it gonna be just fine. I didn't want a spacer but making a wedge eludes me at this time. There an art to that.
