Thanked: 66picked up this 5/8 goldedge at an antique mall a few weeks ago. was pretty dirty but cleaned up extremely well. scales are in great shape. no warp. and razor has almost no wear or age.
honed it up yesterday. bevel set super quick. and the rest of the progression knocked out in only a few minutes. easiest razor by far to get shave-ready.
looking forward to shaving with it. going next to a wonderedge i recently acquired.

Thanked: 66also picked up this 15/16 Muller soligen at the same time. it too was in need of some attention but also cleaned up very well.
made some custom chopper scales from opaque white acrylic with a brushed pewter wedge and nickel/brass combo pins. added two pins to make sure everything was tight at the wedge.
it too honed up well. though not as quickly as the dubl duck.

Thanked: 89Working on my first restoration project. The blades are cleaned up, and now I'm onto scale making. Two pairs in black horn and one pair in faux ivory. Some pictures of them roughed out and ready for sanding and one pair sanded up through 12000 micro mesh. Any recommendations for a final polish after the 12000k micro mesh?

Thanked: 4206Nice looking razors Sloan!
And regarding the scales you've just done jseitz, horn I'd just coat with ren wax or neetsfoot oil and wipe down, after the 12k.
The faux ivory I assume is acrylic or some such plastic? For that again renascence wax, or plastic polish would be as far as I'd go.
