Thanked: 4826Jseitz 12000 is already a pretty high level of finish. Mothers on a rag will also help get them shiny. I prefer not too high of a gloss on horn, otherwise they just look like plastic and you start to loose some of the depth. I have done very little work with plastic but have found mother to clean up older scales quite nicely. If you do want to get a super high gloss finish on the horn you can use the polishing cakes on a buffer and run through the same progression you would use for a high polished steel. Just be careful not to be too aggressive or you can get the horn hot enough to warp.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

You killed it Mike.
My working on is not razor related but, I have installed my first window. Got 2 new double hungs installed into my baby girls room. It was so hot today and my father in law laid some good knowledge on me. Great day today.Nothing is fool proof, to a sufficiently talented fool...

Some fine things going on here. That wood looks great. You should get some great scales out of them. Or whatever your going to do with them. I'd love some stuff like that but just dont have the ability or time for hunting it down or stabilizing. Just got to buy my pieces. Not as fun as finding and cutting your own!
It's just Sharpening, right?

A Frederick Reynolds 5/8 ,1/2- 1/4 hollow.
Just another blade that would have been a lot easier to clean up, if the seller would have left it alone. Most of the mess was contained to the tang, but he had to clean up the two spots on the entire blade. Arrrg [emoji35]

Thanked: 2284Fireplace is coming along. Lit it up for the first time last night. Hoping to have it wrapped up this coming weekend.
Also have a project on the lathe I'm hoping to finish tonight while the Mrs. is out.
And I just threw my first piece of Box Elder burl, that some of you might remember I scored of the side of the road a while back. Trying a little black dye with this blank. Using powdered aniline dye, so I'm not sure how that will work. We'll have to see.
