Being a proud owner of a DD Satin Wedge, the color took me aback for a sec, then all I could think of was Mr. Blue Sky by E.L.O.,
and I quote...

I'm a sucker for Wester Bros. razors. Not sure why it took me so long but I finally got my hands on a Fraternity. Just got this one off the buffs. Had some staining and light pitting so I startted it with some 600 greaseless using 2" and 5" buffs. Pretty happy with it. After the rouge I like to give it a good scrub with some dish soap to clean out all the nooks and crannies. Then it'll hit the stones this evening.

Nice Wester Bros.! I just got a Manganese steel a couple months ago (my first Wester Bros) and have been hooked ever since. Awesome shaver! Nice clean looking razor you have there.

Next up on the bench.
Two Wade&Butcher wedges.

I'm thinking Birdseye maple for scales, and finding a box of some sort, to retro fit these for a two day set. This may take me awhile, its getting busy at work again, and doesn't leave me much, me time.

My weekly project is an Electric Cutlery razor I had been missing from my collection of American razors.
This example was in pretty good nick. A nice 6/8 blade.
In particular, I have always liked these scales. A monkey or what?



The old celluloid scales are sturdy, a bit dull and chalky, I suppose.
Problem with sanding and polishing is the details/color would suffer, so I unpinned the blade and scrubbed the inside and outside with a scrap of damp, worn scotchbrite dipped in Ajax cleanser, avoiding the details.
Held it up and blew 4 light coats of clear wheel coating from a bit far away, inside and outside of the scales allowing 10 minutes between applications. As it cures, I will repin the blade into the scales again.
I have done this many times before to restore shine and depth to old detailed celluloid with good, lasting results, so no worries in the least.

The top pin holes were drilled at a slight angle, so I sawed back and forth with a pin-vise/1/16 bit to align them better and will use AJKenne's silver collars with brass spacers as I reassemble.



Some fine steel-wool/WD40 got the rust removed from the spine/tang. Some light buffer followed by hand-polishing with Maas polish


Will get it all back together on the morrow, I expect!

Those are going to be awesome when you're done outback. I hear ya about work getting busy and cutting into the "me time". Looking forward to watching the progress

Sharptonn, I love the little imp on those scales. When I work with molded scales like that I give them a light sanding(if needed) and buff them to a high polish. I then slop some paint on them and wipe it off with a rag, leaving paint in the recessed areas. It really adds a lot of depth to design. If I want to add color after that I use colored sharpies.
