Nice projects. Tonight I just did some hand polishing.

Had a Reynolds almost exactly like that one Dinnermint. I believe it had a barber notch though. Really wish I hadn't sold it. Now that I've shaved with different razors and done my own honing I realize what a nice blade it was.

Been busy lately, with a bunch of stuff that Gasman sent me for the giveaways. Some just for clean up, and honing, others needing more.

Also was a bunch of horn scales needing flattened, bug bites filled, sanded, and dyed, and a few honey horn scales , in need of repair. (Still to come) Sorry, no before pics.


One set was for one of Jerry's personal razors that he'd sent for honing, as well. A nice Wade & Butcher, wedge.


Also was a set of inlayed and bolstered cellulose scales that were busted in half, with the blade and wedge still pinned up in each half.

I've repaired one other set of cell scales, by grinding a trough on the inside of the scales, then inserting a length of toothpick, split in half, and filling with T-88 structural epoxy, so I did the same with these. Once set, I sanded till all was flat, coated with T-88 then attached brass liners of .016 thickness, using a mechanical bond, by sanding both bonding surfaces with 220 wet n dry, and clamping the pieces. Again, no before pics.



Gave the blade a quick polish with Flitz, then reblued the tang and spine, and pinned with silver/nickle rod, and SS, under collar washers and original black plastic, wedge.

You are a true razor wizard, Mike-I'm always learning from you! I got bored on a snowy/slushy day and started another one in English walnut. I may post a pic if I remember to after dinner (deer tacos from the big buck my son shot back in late fall).

Ive been doing a lot of heal correction, cleaning, polishing, repinning and honing to get most everything else we have in stock ready. Its been a long haul thats for sure. And with Mikes help doing the more technically chalanging repairs we will be all caught up soon.

Guess then its back to doing my own stuff. Lol.

While the wife watched the oscars I played in the shop.
All milled down in sets, some bubinga, ebony, and cocobolo ready for radii and drilling.

And the black dyed hide had dried and the hand grip feels good so I was able to get some proper strop widths ripped as well this weekend.

Only the finest horsehide available has been selected for these kits. Shipped via Akron to boot!

I may dabble with some green and burgundy shades later, but for now, keep it simple. Black and natural.
And the draw on this stuff, very fast, on both the natural and black happily.
Figure, based on sizes, I will be able to create 12-20” strop surfaces. The strops that have local blemishes, well that half will get sueded and that’ll be the B side, so should get good yield from these steeds.
