Made this today. Brush with a High Mountain White knot. and a new pen made with Olivewood. Now the wife has a click style Pen as she wanted. BUT... She says the Pen is too fat. I don't know what I'd do without her but somedays I'd really like to find out!

    Nice job on both Jerry.
Isn’t that olive wood delicious smelling and almost buttery to turn?

I find Ruth likes the slimline pens more than any other style myself.
The cigar, or pretty much any that take the Schafer or Parker refills ends up to fat for her, whereas the cross refills that screw in the backside, those are always a hit, slender, and are quick to turn..

Im starting to find this out too Mike. Sounds like our wifes think the same. Scarry aint it.
BTW, where can i find those refills for the Slims. I like the Parker refills myself. I found that the Slimline does have a click style pen too. But I got to hold off for now untill we find out more about the wifes issues.

My brushes are not selling so i need to drop the price a bit. If they dont sell then i guess i keep them. When something cost 70 to make... Oh well. The wife says i can make Pens and other items for Christmas gifts. That will keep me turning if nothing else.

Pen kits in general have a fat feeling to me and I have big hands.

I have that problem all the time. I've made pen's, pencils, candlesticks, tree ornaments, knives, razors and other various times. I don't do it for money, but I do need to sell some from time to time just so I can afford to make more. Right now I have about 10 knives for sale that nobody seems to want. Oh well, I just keep them and give them as gifts for a while until I can afford to make more. The thing to remember is that you are doing it for your own enjoyment, not for the money.

Here is a razor handle and stand that I made. I thought that it was pretty slick, but it was eventually given away since there were no buyers.

    Jerry,

This looks like a very slim pen--

That is the Slimline i was talking about and ive bought from them too. One thing to point out is the link is to a pencil. Lol. But thanks Roy.

DVW, you got a point. Its fun to do and if i dont sell then they do make great gifts. I dont think i will be spending 50 bucks on a knot any more. I have plenty.

That basket is sweet! I was just looking at some youtube videos on pine needle baskets. I have 10 acres of planted pines so I need to do something with all those needles!

Wow! I just didn't realize that the costs to produce brushes were that high. But I haven't ever tried to make one. How much do knots usually cost? Not the high end ones but medium range....
