Screwed around in the shop today. Been meaning to try and make some boxes. The prototype came out ok, definitely going to be some tweaks.

I used a router and 1/4” straight flute, outlined the razor with red ballpoint so I could easily see what I was doing then freehanded it. I took maybe an 1/8 at a time in depth of cut, overall depth is .45”. I left just a hint of the line until the final pass then cleaned up the edges. In the picture it looks pretty good but could use some refining. I left all my template guides at work but the original plan was to make a cut out in 1/4” mdf with the bandsaw or coping saw and clean that up with sandpaper and chisels and get a perfect copy that way. Problem is every razor is different. I like it for the custom look but it isn’t practical, but neither is the rest of our hobby for the most part.

Thanked: 4827It is a nice looking case. I am guessing that you will put leather on top so it will be a travel case/paddle strop. A more generic cutout would accommodate more razors but they would be less secure. I have been toying with the concept of a large slip case box with a dovetail end cap that would also be a paddle strop. It will still be some time before I can get back into the shop.

I've seen examples of the type with 2razors and one I had with 2 swinging parts, one the cover and the other thicker one for 2 razors with 2 more razors in the base.
It had a padded paddle strop on the base.
The swinging cover was also used on pencil boxes which looked the same as the razor cases.Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

I made another brush. It's in my thread in the Brush Makers Alcove.
I got the yards mowed and took care of the wife as she is still in the recovery stages. Also took the wife's cat to the vet. The 2 dogs go to the groomers tomorrow.
I made a small Sled for my Table Saw and one for my Disc sander.
And the neighbor came by and said he noticed I had been turning some wood and wanted to know if I wanted this one tree limb he had been saving for a couple of years. It was 6 feet long and was Black Walnut. by the end of the day, I managed to get it cut up and turned into workable pieces. About 2.5" to 3.5" thick. Not sure what I'm going to do with it but I will figure out something.
You know me. I got to stay busy somehow or I will go nuts. OK, More Nuts. LOL.It's just Sharpening, right?
