Crossing my fingers I got enough of that stabilizer gone.

    She's lookin damn good brother.
And looks like you'll be fine on the stabilizer from what I see.

    Ps. I've picked my wood.
    But its a suprise. [emoji57]
    Nothing really fancy, just different.
Haven't seen any made from it here in the forum, so i figure why not.
LOL I'll probably find out why.

Damn stabilizers needed a bit more. They kind of hook toward the front a bit. I was getting a bit wider bevel at the heel and a thin, almost nothing til the near halfway point. From there, looked good. Back out to the bench, Dremel and compounds. At least now, I can see where more is needed. Finally got a bevel I am happy with. Polish on the blade again.
Then, I can begin to hone!

Gives me my time to think.
    And away time from wife&kid.
Just kick back in the man cave/shop, turn on the radio with a cold one, do a little sanding, take a few drinks, little more sanding, kill that drink and open another, light a cigar, little more sanding, couple more gulps.
Hell before you know it, your buffing, or three sheets to the wind.
    Either way, i got something

And allows good pressure, and keeps from sanding up over the spine and off the edge.
I clamp a plastic cutting board to the work table, then clamp the blade to the board.
I then use the edge of the board as a stop, so i dont sand over the edge.

    Allright.
Blowing hairs the entire length off the 1k finally. Seems I forgot to do my last step of smoothly breadboarding the edge on the side of an old utility hone. Had a low spot which ate my lunch.
I like it nice and quiet as I hone, esp one with blade/edge restore. I used 2 layers on a worn DMT and, as an edge was developed, a bit on the 1k and then a layer removed. I can always tell when to begin checking as the 'zipping' sound from the DMT striations cease!

I was surprised the bevel is as wide as it is, as the spine is about 5/16 on this thing. Not excessive, but for some reason, I thought it might turn out to be be tiny. At least the bevel is even and sharp now.
I suppose the bevel is 'twice tiny'.
Whomever reground it was a serious guy, IMO.

Man, my hands look like yours. Always grease under the nails, it seems. Busting ass with them is getting old at 55, but gotta keep going. Gripping and rubbing in any fashion hurts!
