Well I did put a set of used scales on this yesterday and honed up this morning.

Knocked the fat a$$ off it some, being its a little heavy honed on the toe.

Precisely! Nice little domed very thin washers! So thin that I found some razors with stacked ones, accidentally I suppose.
Sorry to not being here as often as I'd like. I'm applying final tests to the undergrads, gathering material for a research project and preparing some master degree students to defender their dissertations. Crazy times!

Glad to know both outback Mike and Richard are doing well. Time to open some bottles to praise the mighty yeast for the health of both.
Have yet pictures to share on the repair of the chelonian Rodgers.
A new MK31 with Ivoroid has arrived... The 4th of 7. Almost mint.
Well, good night, gentlemen.

Thanked: 4206I was testing a new electroplating kit I just picked up on an old DE of mine.
Bought this for gold wash and tang recovery, but having never tried it, I wanted to try on another blade, or alternate objects first to work through any learning curve.
Here's the just before and after shots. The before it is soaking in white vinegar just prior to cladding.
Neat little system with results that turned out not too bad. I was interested in the penetration on the knurling and lettering the most. As hoped, it was electrically bonded with terrific smoothness of gold coating.
As others have indicated, a mirror shine will be required first, absolutely on the real projects. But the application, while a little messy, seemed to work almost exactly as described. I understand it can be darkened with subsequent treatments of the 24k solution so will probably give it a second round.
Anyway, a few more practice items and this new tool will have a place in my blade arsenal.
Might do my pinning hammer, hehe.

Pretty cool B52. I either saw it on here or another thread where someone did some gold wash & it came out looking really good. I thought I saved it but I can't find it.
