Perhaps someone could interpret that German? Prolly means Reg U.S. Pat. Off..
I have a couple of nice German Wm Elliots, One in horn with the standard abalone/silver inlays, but of horn, not Bakelite!
The other has lots of wear, a cool spine, and scales of...What? Looks cracked and busted, but are not. Some kind of exotic horn? Tortoise? I suppose it is old ratty horn, but it looks kinda different.

Really!!! Tell me more about what you know!!!
Mike, my Goins Encyclopedia says this:
Wm Elliot & Co. Made in Germany 1880-1908
Wm Elliot & Co. New York 1880-1908
    Wm Elliot & Co Sheffield

Ok, I might be wrong about mine. I need to find it now! Wow, you may have a rarer one. My book shows markings for the different years.

Cool, Steve! An importer in New York! Boy! I am seeing a lot of that of late. Thanks! That would mean they are plenty old! . My 63 is from 1901 and seems apparent that my 20 is before 1895!

Now...When is outback's 208 from? Must be early 20th century?

Steve, you are a true gent regardless of whether you sand them up or not.
Either will be awesome and fit the blade I found when up at the cottage wonderfully.
I will fire you off a pm and we can chat.
    Thx again.
And the Brookes Crookes shaved very well gents, better than the FBU still,,,;(
It is added to the roster with pleasure.
Those Elliots look fantastic. And a neat idea with the tape on the etching Mike .
    cheers.

Tom, that was puzzling the hell outta me too. The 208 really throws things off but it's nice!
BTW, I was looking for my Wm. Elliot but can't find it right now.

Otay. Let's have a mod merge this with the 'what are you working on?' thread.
    Seems it has evolved?

Or leave it as it is?

5Min. Later...... Perfectly flat scales. Quick polish, and their ready .
