Thanked: 4207Finished my Brookes up last night.
Left some divots on the sides out of the edge area so not an issue. Finished on that thuri it's resting on.
Honed up slowly, hard steel there. Ends up just shy of 7/8th.

Thanked: 4207Find that out after work Mike, thanks.
Testing that one, and retesting the FBU that started this thread. Took it through the stones as well on the weekend. Both went through the Norton, coti, and this time thuri progressions.
Hopefully it's where it needs to be now.
Like all the new beasties I'm seeing on here for future works.
Keep em coming gents. oh and if anyone has a nice old set of dorko scales needing a home,, lemme know..

Thanked: 3215The other day at the County Fair, saw a guy at the Blacksmith demonstration, making some wrought iron decorative pieces. He put a wax finish on the finished, heated metal, a black/ bronze, look cool, he said was very durable. He just brushed on heated furniture wax and buffed with cloth.
Here is an interesting link on wax and oil finishes on metal.
I may have to polish up my piece of small gage track and give this a go, as Outback’s polish on Miket’s track came out so nice.

Hey, You guys were talking about cleaning up etching with a vibratory shell cleaner. What medium do I use? Walnut or corn?
