Well, I am working on something a bit different. I am yanking all of my horn-scaled razors which seem to never stay tight and won't center worth a damn and unpinning the tops, doing away with the spacers. Done 4 so far and it cured all of them.
The tang has to center the blade in the scales and the spacers dampen the effect. Plus, Horn-on-tang is nice and tight instead of horn on the little spacer. This one has Babur's collars with bigs n' littles brass domes, using bronze rod. Managed to save the collars and domes!

I rest my case.

Mike I found them & they are new because the pivot hole isn't even drilled in them yet. If I remember right I have 2 of these so there's another one somewhere. This one was looking poor so I sanded them a little bit & they came back to life. They were scratched up & the Dorko badge was very dull looking but after a little sanding & polishing with some Maas. They look great but if you get them, I would unpin them & sand the rear scale smooth because as you see in the pics, it appears pitted or not made just right. They have your name on 'em unless I find the other set & they are better. I'll give you the better of the two.

Good job Tom! I have found the same issue on some straights as well. I guess that's why a lot of old straight's, especially Sheffield razors don't use 'em.

Yep. Seems obvious to me now! As many as I have, I may be unpinning some more along the way!

Strange isn't it Tom? I have noticed that quite a few times.
MikeB52, I found the other set of scales but they have a scratch near the badge, yet the other scale doesn't have the abnormalities like the first set. You would have to be very careful sanding that scratch out near the badge. You wouldn't want to sand the badge too much & wear it down.
Actually, I could be a true gentleman & sand them out for ya. I could probably make the second set look a lot better once I get the scratch out.Last edited by engine46; 09-15-2015 at 11:40 PM.

Hey everyone.
Cleaned up a blade with etching on it. It was pretty faint when i started.
But to preserve it i tried something.
I scotch taped over it, then carefully cut the excess tape away from the perimeter. Thought to myself if the blade around it was nice and clean, it would be more visible.
It worked for the most part.
So what ya think.?
I did with what i had......
The last two pics are after i removed the tapeLast edited by outback; 09-15-2015 at 11:54 PM.
