I appreciate this guy for wanting to get into making blades, but he's got a long way to go if you ask me. The best way to break in your strop would be to use this

Ernie, I couldn't even believe that description he made of that Red Injun.
This one came to me from a bad home...............it seems they sharpened just the middle of this razor................I straightened out the blade the best I could, Honed it to a 15,000 grit stone and finished it off with a stropping with 200,000 diamond grit spray.................and yes it is shave ready.................there is still plenty of good years left in this Razor for a great shave.

It's about as shave ready as a bowling ball!

I realize they were and still made but some of the ones on the bay just appear to be ground down junk. The actual 3/8 razors o have seen which is not many honestly have a much more finished look to them. Just my thoughts. I completely see your point though Sir.

Better photos would help to determine the "shame" of the razors above, but I lean to that Pipe razor being original small blade. The Baurmann? not so much! =P

I have seen the ones on eBay that people will cut down & try to make something like this out of it.
