Thread: FS:Wapienica razors

I finally had a chance to sit down and hone up one of my Waps last week, and have shaved with it - I have to say, you are in for a treat.

The razor honed up quickly and nicely on the 4k/8k Norton, and while I think the balance with the steel scales is way off, the shave was comparable to many much much more expensive razors - and I am no way near a hone meister - but this thing made me look like one! Going to hone all three up, and save them for travel and gifts I think.

Recommended for cheap first razor for honing practice, or starter - and delivers very very good shaves. Testing now to see how long my honing lasts.

Oh, and even with the price increase, you can not beat it with a stick.

Hello folks. First time, long time. I've read this entire thread. And after reading all the praise, I took the plunge and purchased two razors yesterday.

For those who've had these for a while, can you comment on how long the edge lasts? How long before you've felt the need to hit the stones again?

I haven't got a perfect edge on mine - yet. So I am probably giving a quick rehone every three shaves or so; that applies to both mine and my sons, which I also hone for him. I'd be confident to run five shaves between hones, and probably a lot longer - I just haven't tried that yet.

The bevels run quite short, which I suspect might mean that they wouldn't need rehoning more frequently than most other razors - but I could very well be mistaken on that.

That depends on how your skills are at honing and stropping and shaving.

You mean, not everyone here is a pro??

True enough, Steve. I was just trying to get a general sense as to how soft/hard the steel is on these razors.

They are of a medium steel hardness and the amount of honing will depend upon the level of sharpness that you want.

Finding bargains has never been a strong suit of mine, but this time I came out on top.

The three Wappys I ordered arrived very quickly, and recorded (signed) delivery too which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise.

All of them are in original perfect condition, and am looking forward to putting these sweethearts in some nice scales and adding one of them into my rotatation.

The other two will take place in the "rainy-day-backup" suite of blades.

I have the new supply with the SFK triangle, they are a bit lighter and smaller

I am giving the mini arkansas 150x20x8 mm if you will buy 2 or more razors

How much smaller Wojtec? 9/16?

I have the razor with the SFK triangle on it. I guess I didn't realize there were different types. I will say that this is an awesome razor and encourage everyone to try it if you don't have the SFK type. I couldn't be more pleased with it and, to me, it's still got a very decent weight.

At the price, even if you didn't like it, you can't go wrong.
