Thanked: 79I guess it's too late to go "shhhhh!" They won't shave. Obviously made in Pakistan for Wapienica...errr...uhhh....
Yeah I like them too.
I had missed that yours had a chip. That could warrant 1,000, although 4,000 could still get that one...

I just got a few more and all had chips in, which i couldn't get out without going to 1500 paper. Shave very nice now though.

You won't be disappointed for waiting. I finally shave-tested mine. The edge is superb. The only issue that I have is with the scales. They are a bit on the heavy side and that messes with control. I'll rescale mine and keep it in my rotation.

I just had a shave with Nick's Wapienica. That is one super duper shaver.
I am glad I ordered 4 myself. 2 of them have small nicks though. They will need some tough love on the 1K/4K Norton.
But Yeah, the scales are too heavy to my liking.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I already have a TEW of similar configuration. I was going to put on a set of DOVO SS scales on it, but I think I'll just make a couple of new sets out of chechen.

Thanked: 1The scales bothered me at first, throw the weight and leverage off a bit, but you know, I think making me more conscious helps my honing and stropping. While stropping I'm getting a strong draw off the blade, like AFDavis mentions. I've felt it before on other blades, but not such a strong draw, possibly due to the scales.
It honed easy, even with the microchips having to be taken out, and it shaved wonderfully, and I've got some ways to go before I can consider myself capable.Last edited by Friggin Joe; 04-04-2007 at 08:49 PM.

I really like the weight and balance of these razors, it seems to shave better than my Dovo. Mine honed up with 6 or 8 strokes on the 4k and 10 or so on the 8 k, a couple on Tonys pasted and 20 on the strop. Feeling more confident with it.

read this all the way through and thought, for a newbie what a buy so I went for it.
Fantastic. Took a lot more on the hone I bought with it but that could be my technique. Anyway, if interested I've posted my experiences in the newbie section (http://straightrazorpalace.com/showthread.php?t=11484) and thought this was the best buy ever.

Thanked: 0I just received my razor today and I like the look of it. However, my razor has absolutely no markings on it unlike the early versions posted on this thread.
How do I know what it actually is, as it would have been cool to have a straight that could be traced back to a communist era.
Other than that, no complaints.
Thanks Wojtec76.
